WOODLANDS SIRES TRIFECTA KEY WA 4YO FEATURE

The $125,000 Group One 4yo Classic at Gloucester Park saw Bettor’s Delights son Ana Malik lead from start to finish to defeat his rivals. Pacing 1.55.5 for the 2130 metre journey, he saw off the fast finishing Ideal Liner a son of American Ideal and Mighty Conqueror ran a mighty race into third he is also a son of American Ideal. The Western Australian 4yo crop this season runs very deep and the Woodlands sires feature heavily.

The time honoured Inter Dominion returned to Victoria and in the opening round heats our stallions where seen to advantage. Pegasus Spur’s son Speeding Spur has earnings of over $980,000 following his victory in his trotter’s heat at Melton. Never extended he ran home in 56 and change to secure maximum points.

Bettor’s Delight sired two of the opening round heats winners for the pacers. Gun New Zealand bred 4yo Spankem was too classy and Western Australia visitor Galactic Star led all the way to secure his heat victory.

No shortage of winners for American Ideal this week past, he sired a double at Auckland when Parker and Triple Eight greeted the judge, Muffins was a Narrogin winner, Twilight Saga scored at Oamaru and Veloce Bella was an Albion Park winner.

WOODLANDS STALLIONS DELIVER GROUP ONE GLORY ON NZ CUP DAY

On New Zealand Cup day at Addington, all three Group 1 races were sired by the Woodlands Stud stallion roster. ‘The King’, Bettor’s Delight sired his fifth consecutive New Zealand Cup winner when Thefixer prevailed in the time-honoured race. In a race time of 3.53 for the 3200-metre standing start, he defeated a brave Tiger Tara who sat parked and classy mare Dream About Me was third, Bettor’s Delight provided the trifecta in the $800,000 feature race. Congratulations to all involved.

The 3yo sires stake final saw the unveiling of New Zealand’s next star 3yo when Ultimate Sniper paced 1.52.9 to win the $170,000 final. Racing three wide and then into ‘the chair’ he was simply to tough for his rivals. The son of Bettor’s Delight seems to have bottomless stamina and will be a key player in all key features going forward. The race saw Bettor’s Delight provide the quinella.

Pegasus Spur’s son Speeding Spur recorded his 8th Group 1 victory when he won the $100,000 New Zealand Trotters Free For All. With over $960,000 in the locker, Speeding Spur certainly ranks as one of New Zealand’s best square gaiters in recent times. The Woodlands bred and raised 7yo, now looks to the Group 1 Dominion Handicap at Addington on Show Day. Congratulations to all these Group 1 Winners!

SWEET LOU’S DAUGHTER ANNEXES BREEDERS CROWN FINAL  

Sweet Lou’s ace daughter Warrawee Ubeaut has been the standout amongst her peers in the USA this season and she added the $600,000 Breeders Crown for 2yo fillies to her list of achievements. At Pocono, she paced the mile in 1.52.6 in the time-honoured classic. With seasonal earnings of over $602,000, Sweet Lou’s ‘baby gal’ has had a season for the ages!

Bettor’s Delights son Chicago Bull is on track for the New Zealand Cup in November, he dealt to the Auckland’s best pacers following his arrival in New Zealand. Sitting in the chair, he was simply too strong when it mattered, he was amongst four winners sired by Bettor’s Delight at the Auckland meeting. Further south at Kaikoura, Bettor’s Delight dominated the Cup meeting, he sired five winners including Cup winner Spankem and Henry Hubert won the $40,000 PGG Listed Classic, he was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud.

American Ideal produced classy winners in Cruz at Geelong, he now has earnings over $100,000, Overboard Again won at Gloucester Park, Aztec Bromac made it back to back wins at Menangle Park and Kilowatt Kid scored at Invercargill.

Star trotter Speeding Spur is on track for New Zealand’s key features following his victory in the South Bay trotters Cup at Kaikoura. The Woodlands Stud bred and raised son of Pegasus Spur now has over $900,000 in career earnings!

SWEET LOU CREW HEAD TO SEASONS END BIG DANCE

Sweet Lou’s debut crop in the Northern Hemisphere have provided many highlights during the season and at Pocono this weekend he has qualified four of his progeny into the rich Breeders Crown finals. Sweet Lou’s sons are headed by late season bloomer No Pas Amor who was a 1.50.6 winner in his division, he will be accompanied by Love Me Some Lou and Blood Money. His world record breaking daughter Warrawee Ubeaut has made the fillies final. American Ideal’s daughter St. Somewhere took her fillies Breeders Crown division at Pocono also. She paced 1.52.4 in her victory and is a live chance in the final!

Closer to home American Ideal had good winners in Aztec Bromac at Menangle, he now has over $320,000 in career earnings, at Cambridge he sired a double when Rain Man and Mrs Zippy greeted the judge and out west The Trilogy was a winner at Kellerberrin.

Bettor’s Delight has unearthed two very serious three-year-old sons on both sides of the ditch this week past. At Addington Ultimate Sniper put some serious rivals to the sword in his sire’s stakes victory, he ran home in 27.5 to win by very easily and at Melton, Demon Delight remains unbeaten after 3 starts, he romped to a 1.52.7 victory and looks the early season stand out amongst his peers. The Bettor’s Delight juggernaut was on show in New Zealand, with a quartet of winners at both Addington and Ashburton and he sired a treble at Forbury Park.

TIGER ROARS TO VICTORY IN VICTORIA CUP

Outstanding pacer Tiger Tara fired the first shot on the Grand Circuit when he led and the won the time-honoured Victoria Cup at Melton. Posting a 1.53.4 mile rate for the 2240 metre feature the son of Bettor’s Delight was simply too classy for his rivals. With earnings now in excess of $1.5 million, Tiger Tara is on track for a tilt at the New Zealand Cup. The race saw Bettor’s Delight quinelled the feature with Chicago Bull claiming second.

At Woodbine in Canada, Bettor’s Delight sired both the Ontario Sires Stakes gold winners for the rookie pacers. His daughter Summer Charm took the $225,000 final for the fairer sex in 1.52.6 and in the boy’s division his son Keystone Concrete led in a Bettor’s Delight sired trifecta in 1.52 flat! Bettor’s Delight siring excellence knows no bounds!

American Ideal had a good week out west where he sired a double at Northam with Miss Tivoli and Ohoka Ritchie greeting the judge and Show You The Stars was a Pinjarra winner. Pegasus Spur’s son Marvellous Max continues his rise through the classes, he was an impressive winner at Melton on Victoria Cup night.

WARRAWEE UBEAUT SETS NEW WORLD RECORD FOR 2YO’S

Sweet Lou’s star 2yo daughter Warrawee Ubeaut etched her name into harness racing folklore when she became the sports fastest 2yo in history. She posted a staggering 1.48.6 mile rate when she won a division of the International Stallion Stakes at The Red Mile in Kentucky. Warrawee Ubeaut bested the previous quickest mile rate held by among others her father Sweet Lou!

The Sweet Lou speed fest continued twenty-four hours later when his son No Mas Amor posted a 1.49.2 divisional win in The International Stallion Series for the boys at The Red Mile. Just a reminder Sweet Lou’s ‘down under’ book is now closed!

Bettor’s Delights millionaire progeny where on display on both sides of the ditch this week past. Dream About Me continued her preparation for the New Zealand Cup with victory in the $50,000 Canterbury Classic at Addington and out west the $1.65 million-dollar earner Chicago Bull was an effortless Gloucester Park winner on his way to the Victoria Cup to be held this weekend. Wrapper’s Delight was an impressive all the way winner in 1.52.5 in the in the $50,000 Group 2 ‘Smoken Up’ at Melton. With close to $300,000 on his card he heads into the Victoria Cup also with a head full of steam.

No shortage of winners for ‘gun sire’ American Ideal. In the ‘Shaky Isles’ he sired good winners in Ryan’s Gal at Cambridge, Flying Mister Ideal dealt to his rivals at Addington, Eastwood Isabella scored at Timaru and Ivana Legacy won at Invercargill.

Resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur sired good winners in Amabede at Invercargill and Amanda’s Spur won at Menangle.

SWEET LOU ‘DOWN UNDER’ BOOK FULL AND CLOSED

Woodlands Stud is proud to announce that Sweet Lou’s Australian and New Zealand book is closed for this current season. We would like to thank all breeders across both countries for supporting ‘The Great White Blaze’! His recent run of great winners in the USA continued with Lyons Night Hawk winning a division of the ‘Blue Grass’ at The Red Mile in 1.50.2, he has banked over $136,000 in his freshmen season. Sweet Lou now has earnings close to $2,000,000 in his debut season as a sire.

The annual New Zealand harness racing awards were held in Auckland this Saturday past and the Woodlands Stallions enjoyed success. Bettor’s Delight was New Zealand stallion of the year, his son Lazarus was named Horse of the year and also took pacer of the year accolades. Another Masterpiece, Ultimate Machete and classy mare Utmost Delight all won their respective horse of the year categories’ giving Bettor’s Delight a big night out!

Pegasus’s Spurs son Speeding Spur was named New Zealand trotter of the year and 5yo and older trotter of the year also. Congratulations to all winners on this prestigious industry night.

SPEEDING SPUR RESUMES IN STYLE  

Gun squaregaiter Speeding Spur resumed in style with a first up victory at Auckland this week past. Overcoming a 50 metre handicap the son of Pegasus Spur showed great closing speed to defeat his rivals, it was a great drive by Josh Dickie. This was career win number 22 and he now has over $888,000 in career earnings. Once again he looks like being a major player in all the key features this season.

American Ideal’s son American History continued his stellar season with victory in the $250,000 Kentucky sires stakes for 3yo’s when he posted a 1.48.1 mile at the Red Mile. He now has career earnings of over $472,000 and this was his seventh victory for the season. Other good winners for American Ideal included Flying Mister Ideal at Addington, Pay Me Overs at Newcastle and Goodtime Slater at Menangle.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight posted a treble at Newcastle where Derringer, Styx Vixen and Highview Freddy greeted the judge, English Rose was a winner at Auckland, the Woodlands bred and raised Ideal Pleasure paced 1.52.2 to win at Menangle and at Addington, Bettor’s Delight sired a double when Scarlett Banner and Global Domination recorded victories.
