Downbytheseaside is a sire making a splash in the harness racing scene in both hemispheres already. Australasian trainers are impressed with the quality progeny they have in their barns and they are really starting to make their mark on race tracks here. We are thrilled to see him with so many quality winners already!

He is the hottest sire in North America and his progeny are performing so well that he is either leading or a close second or third on the 2023 2 and 3-year-old leaderboards and he was also leading 3-year-old sire overall in 2022 and leading first season sire in his debut season and second overall, only behind Captaintreacherous.

In a breath-taking career Downbytheseaside, was the equal fastest 2-year-old in history pacing 1.49! In his freshman year he also paced a ‘World Record’ 1.50 on a half-mile track. As a 2-year-old he banked over $577,000 in purses and recorded eight wins.

As a 3-year-old Downbytheseaside won a staggering $1.6 million in stakes. In a crop of great horses among them Huntsville and Fear The Dragon, he was named the 2017 Dan Patch 3YO Pacing Colt of the Year.

From a Woodlands Stud perspective Downbytheseaside ticks all the boxes. We expect him to be very popular with breeders, with his exceptional looks, staggering juvenile speed, terrific gait, talent and pedigree.

He is also highly fertile and has tremendous in foal rates.

CROSSES OF GOLD

Alongside being a terrific racehorse. Downbytheseaside was brought for the reason that he can be crossed with many Australasian mares. Being a son of Somebeachsomewhere, some of the proven crosses for that line are as follows:

BETTOR’S DELIGHT - Downbytheseaside is a brilliant option for breeders with Bettor’s Delight mares. He is the perfect cross for these mares and it is possible he would add some height into the smaller Bettor’s Delight mares. This cross is already proving to be successful with one of his best fillies in North America called Sea Silk being bred on this cross.

ARTSPLACE - this line works very well with Somebeachsomewhere and his sons. Captaintreacherous was bred on this cross. SPORTSWRITER mares have been a popular cross with Downbytheseaside in both North America and Australasia and the cross is already proven to be successful. ART MAJOR mares are having plenty of success when crossed with Downbytheseaside. MAJOR IN ART and DREAM AWAY mares are also crossing well.

IN THE POCKET - This line has worked well already with Somebeachsomewhere and his sons. CHRISTIAN CULLEN mares also fit into this bracket and and Downbytheseaside’s recent New Zealand winner Aardiebytheseaside is bred on this cross.

WESTERN HANOVER – mares with sires from this line have already seen success when crossed with Downbytheseaside. His top son Pebble Beach is out of a WESTERN IDEAL mare. This is also encouraging for breeders with AMERICAN IDEAL, ROCKNROLL HANOVER and ROCK N ROLL HEAVEN mares.
