WOODLANDS STALLIONS DELIVER GROUP ONE GLORY ON NZ CUP DAY

On New Zealand Cup day at Addington, all three Group 1 races were sired by the Woodlands Stud stallion roster. ‘The King’, Bettor’s Delight sired his fifth consecutive New Zealand Cup winner when Thefixer prevailed in the time-honoured race. In a race time of 3.53 for the 3200-metre standing start, he defeated a brave Tiger Tara who sat parked and classy mare Dream About Me was third, Bettor’s Delight provided the trifecta in the $800,000 feature race. Congratulations to all involved.

The 3yo sires stake final saw the unveiling of New Zealand’s next star 3yo when Ultimate Sniper paced 1.52.9 to win the $170,000 final. Racing three wide and then into ‘the chair’ he was simply to tough for his rivals. The son of Bettor’s Delight seems to have bottomless stamina and will be a key player in all key features going forward. The race saw Bettor’s Delight provide the quinella.

Pegasus Spur’s son Speeding Spur recorded his 8th Group 1 victory when he won the $100,000 New Zealand Trotters Free For All. With over $960,000 in the locker, Speeding Spur certainly ranks as one of New Zealand’s best square gaiters in recent times. The Woodlands bred and raised 7yo, now looks to the Group 1 Dominion Handicap at Addington on Show Day. Congratulations to all these Group 1 Winners!
