WOODLANDS STUD BRED PROGENY LEAD THE WAY

Woodlands Stud bred and raised progeny were to the fore in the 2YO Sires Stakes Final at Addington on Friday night. Jesse Duke was too strong for his rivals in the $170,000 final with Another Masterpiece strong in second, bringing up a quinella for Bettor’s Delight in the Group 1 feature. We congratulate the All Stars Stables and owners Jean and Bill Feiss who have been long time supporters of Woodlands Stud.

There were also plenty more standout performances for Bettor’s Delight across the week. At Gloucester Park he sired a quaddie when Tis A Dream, Bettor’s Fire, Eagle Rox and Mister Versace all held out their opposition. He sired a treble at Oamaru when Bettor Be Gold, Buzinga and Much Better all greeted the judge. The latter headed home a trifecta for the stallion. Drop The Hammer was eye-catching in the feature trot at Menangle when he defeated his opponents by over 25 metres in the Group 3 3yo Trotters Foundation Final, this secured him a new Australian race record of 1:59:3 for the 2300 meter journey from the mobile start.

American Ideal continued to sire winners on both sides of the ditch across the last week. The Coordinator and Helena Ideal brought up a double for the sire at Cambridge last Thursday. Bye Bye Barbie won at Kilmore. Yankee Strutter strutted to victory at Albion Park and Alpha Charlie won at Swan Hill.

ELLE MAC ANNEXES ANOTHER FILLIES CLASSIC

Outstanding ‘kiwi’ filly Elle Mac, added her third Group One victory to her CV when she won the $140,000 Nevele R 3yo fillies final at Addington. Proving a class above her rivals, the daughter of Bettor’s Delight was an impressive 2 ½ length winner. She returned a 1.55.4-mile rate for the 1950 metre journey. This is Elle Mac’s third Group One win in her short race career and she has banked over $435,000 in stakes. Bettor’s Delight sired the trifecta on the time-honoured feature.

Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight included Aqua Miss who won the Group 2 Qld Triad 3yo fillies final at Albion Park, My Casino Belle won the Group 3 Red Ochre at Dubbo and now has over $125,000 in the locker and at Northam Its Set in Stone got the chocolates in the 2yo race.

American Ideal’s 2yo progeny added another key feature to the list when his daughter Yankee Vision won the $50,000 Group 2 Vicbred platinum final for the 2yo fillies at Melton. Out west he sired a double at Gloucester Park when Ideal Tyson paced 1.52.8, he now has over $200,000 in earnings and the Woodlands bred and raised Besotted is closing in on $300,000 in stakes following his win.

WOODLANDS STALLIONS DOMINANT JUVENILE FEATURES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE DITCH

The Woodlands stallion’s American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight had a weekend to remember when their sons where major winners in the key juvenile feature racing in Australia and New Zealand. At Melton, American Ideal’s son Centenario proved he is Australia’s leading juvenile following a classy display in the $350,000 Australian Pacing Gold 2yo colts & geldings final. Taking the pacemakers role early he paced 1.55.8 for the 1720 metre journey. Centenario remains undefeated in five lifetime starts and has banked close to $175,000 in stakes. Congratulations to breeders ‘Benstud’ who have been long time supporters and massive fans of American Ideal!

At Addington, Bettor’s Delight had a night to remember when his son’s ran the trifecta in the $200,000 PGG Wrightson 2yo sales final. Another Masterpiece won the key feature in 1.54.3, he defeated Jesse Duke and Supreme Dominator. SPEEDING SPUR ADDS SEVENTH GROUP 1 TO HIS CAREER

Top flight trotter Speeding Spur continued his remarkable come back when he won the Group 1 Rowe Cup at Auckland. In the ultimate staying test over the 3200-metre trip, the son of Pegasus Spur proved too strong for his rivals. This was Speeding Spur’s seventh Group 1 victory and he now has close to $880,000 in the locker. The race was a triumphant for resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur who provided the quinella on the time-honoured feature.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight daughter Kayla Marie was rewarded for her consistency with a New Zealand record victory in the 2yo sires stake final at Auckland. She paced 1.54.7 for the 1700 metre journey. At Invercargill Bettor’s Delight provided the trifecta on the Diamond Creek farm 2yo Classic. A Bettor Act lowered the New Zealand record for the 2yo’s over 2200 metres when he paced 1.57.5 in the key Southland feature.

Gun sire American Ideal has unearthed another star in Duke Of Wellington. The star 3yo made it four wins on the bounce when he effortlessly accounted for a quality field in the Group 2 Southern Supremacy at Invercargill, his future is very bright. Out west Bletchly Park made a winning debut at Pinjarra in the APG 2yo series race. Pouncing on the lead, he easily accounted for his rivals in 1.56.2! The full brother to millionaire Bling It On looks a key player in any freshman feature he contests this season.

BETTOR JOY CONTINUES HER STELLAR CAREER

Top flight filly Bettor Joy is enjoying a great 3yo season in New Zealand. The daughter of champion sire Bettor’s Delight is headed towards $300,000 in stakes following her latest victory at Addington. Bettor Joy recorded career win number 10 when she led in a Woodlands Stud sired trifecta on the 40th series heat of 3yo Nevele R fillies series. She brushed home in 27.4.

On the same card, Another Masterpiece was to classy in the 2yo Sires Stakes heat for the boys. The Woodlands bred son of Bettor’s Delight ran home in 55.4, with a closing quarter of 26.6!

Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight included Aqua Miss who won her heat of the Victorian Oaks at Melton, Let’s Save The Day was a stylish winner at Horsham and Big Bad Bruce won at Cranbourne.

American Ideal’s son Cruz smashed the track record at Horsham with a stunning display over the 1700 metre trip. He paced 1.53 and crushed his rivals by seventeen metres. At Invercargill he sired a double when Ideal For Sure and Duke Of Wellington got the chocolates, Resurgent Dream won her prelude of the Granny Smith for the 4yo mares at Devonport, American Zest made it back to back wins at Kilmore and Run Boy Run was a Rangiora winner.

Pegasus Spur sired debut winner Maorishadow at Charlton, Pegasus Elegance recorded career win number 11 when she won at Menangle and Malabar Spur was a winner at Cambridge.

WOODLANDS STALLION’S DELIVER IN AUSTRALIAN PACING GOLD HEATS

The Australian Pacing Gold series is currently being conducted and both American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight have put a big stamp on the series thus far. Between them their progeny they have won seven heats and thus sending their progeny direct to the big money finals.

American Ideal has been seen to advantage with three heat winners among them daughter’s Ideally Say Yes and Miss Halfpenny and his ace son Centenario was an impressive winner of his colt’s heat where he won at Melton in 1.55.5.

Bettor’s Delight has sired a quartet of heat winners with three fillies leading the way, he also sired the undefeated Hurricane Harley to win his colt’s heat at Melton, he appears to have plenty of upside going forward.

Bettor’s Delight continues to set the bar high, with a no fewer than 16 winners on this Friday past, this included a quartet of winners at Addington, with Hundie and Bettor’s Heart greeting the judge, at Wagga he sired a treble, where 2yo Delightful Jackie made a winning debut and at Tamworth, For The Bettor and Last Party got the chocolates.

American Ideal seems to have a great affinity with Southland racing, he sired a double at Winton when Flash Party made a winning debut and Mighty Conqueror is a serious horse in the making following an effortless victory on the same card.

CENTENARIO LOOKS EARLY STANDOUT 2YO IN AUSTRALIA

American Ideal’s son Centenario is clearly the best freshman among his peers as the season unfolds. He remains undefeated following his victory in the ‘Shakamaker Classic’ at Melton. Sitting in the chair, he deposed of his rivals in classy fashion. The Benstud bred and raised juvenile is bred on the same cross as millionaire pacer Soho Tribeca and now looms as the horse to beat in some key juvenile racing in the coming months.

American Ideal produced other good winners in Prince Potter at Wagga, American Legend won on debut at Manawatu and Run Boy Run was a winner at Forbury Park.

Bettor’s Delight’s daughter Art Series was a winner of the Group 2 Bathurst Gold Bracelet for the 3yo fillies, taking the race in 1.54.5, at Albion Park he sired a double when Bet I’m Special and Statement Made greeted the judge, Bettor Joy won her heat of the Nevele R 3YO fillies series at Forbury Park, Poppy Drayton showed great toughness to record back to back wins over Easter at Hawera and Hurricane Harley made a career winning debut at Maryborough.

Resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur sired winners on both sides of the Tasman when Scorched scored at Albion Park, Golden Spurs won on debut at Geelong, Holdon Toyaspurs was a Forbury winner and Blood And Whiskey won on the grass at Hawera.

SPEEDING SPUR RETURNS TO WINNING WAYS

Ace trotter Speeding Spur was back to his best with victory at Addington, ahead of some key feature races in the coming months. Overcoming his 30-metre handicap, he defied his rivals to trot to career win number nineteen. The Woodlands bred and raised son of Pegasus Spur is now closing in on $750,000 in career earnings.

Pegasus Spur also sired a double at Auckland when Our Petite Lady and Puma Road both recorded stylish victories.

American Ideal continues to sire winners in Western Australia on a regular basis, he sired a treble at Gloucester Park this Friday past, Covered N Diamonds, Runrunjimmydunn and Whozideawasthis all greeted the judge, at Albion Park, Yankee Strutter paced 1.54 to win, Isaac won at Launceston and Duke Of Wellington was an impressive winner at Wairio in 1.53.3, with a closing half in 56.2!
