SOHO TRIBECA ADDS KILMORE CUP TO HIS CV

American Ideal’s ace son Soho Tribeca, may well be the best harness horse plying his trade in Australia at the moment. He added to his burgeoning reputation when he ran a track record to win the time-honoured Group 2 Kilmore Cup this Saturday past. After sitting in the chair, he was too classy for his rivals in the $70,000 feature. Congratulations to owner Rob Watson, who is a massive supporter of American Ideal!

Plenty of winners for American Ideal including a double at Narrogin with Mister Tom Dooley and Ideal Flipflop greeting the judge, Ideal Fantasy was a winner at Junee and wily veteran Ideal Scott rolled past $840k in stakes with victory at Albion Park.

Bettor’s Delight’s daughter Passions Delight steam rolled her rivals by sixteen metres to claim the South Australian Oaks, at Gloucester Park, star local Chicago Bull was an effortless winner of the $50,000, 4&5-year-old championship and at Narrabri, Last Party keep winning for ace NSW trainer Aaron Goadsby. Bettor’s Delight’s 2yo progeny keep racking up the wins early in the season, with War Dan Delight winning the Group 3 Kindergarten stakes at Wyndham in 1.53.3, Bettor Be Oscar made a winning debut at Gloucester Park, That’s Bettor won at Albion Park and Max Delight opened his race track career with victory at Goulburn.

JESSE JUKE POWERS TO GROUP 1 GLORY

Leviathan stallion Bettor’s Delight has produced another top flight 2yo in New Zealand, with Jesse Duke an early stand out amongst his peers. Coming from last he won the Group 1 Breckon Farms Young Guns final at Auckland. Jesse Duke returned a mile rate of 1.55 for the race and scooted home in 56.9. Woodlands Stud is proud to have bred this star 2yo and congratulations to Jean Feiss who purchase the boy from us!

Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight included More The Bettor who won the Northern Southland Cup at Invercargill in stunning fashion, on the same card he delivered another feature winner when Kayla Marie, won the Southland Fillies Classic for 2yo’s and Another Masterpiece also greeted the judge.

American Ideal had no shortage of winners when Apocalypse and Pradas Ideal Dahling both won at Reefton, Reddington scored at Forbury Park, Kilowatt Kid won at Invercargill and at Geelong, American Ideal’s 2yo son Centenario made a stunning debut, cruising home to victory by 13 metres.

Pegasus Spur’s yearlings made a splash at the Australian Premier Trotting Yearling Sale in Melbourne with an average of over $35,000! That was a great result off a $2640 service fee! Will done to all associated with this year’s trotting sale.

WOODLANDS STUD STALLIONS DOMINATE AT AUCKLAND

The Woodlands Stud stallion roster came to the fore once again last Friday night at Alexandra Park, winning five races on the card. Champion sire Bettor’s Delight’s progeny picked up four wins on the night with a trifecta when the Woodlands Stud bred Bettor Step Aside got home at the head of the field. He also claimed a first four in the Group 1 Northern Oaks when Elle Mac showed her class to claim the victory over Delight In Me, Gold Orchid and Bettor Joy.  

Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight across the week were Dracarys in the Group 3 Downbytheseaside Leonard Memorial at Addington with Kayla Marie running a super race to bring up a Bettor’s Delight quinella. He also had good doubles at Menangle with Murano and Delightful Memphis and Gloucester Park with The Lightning Strike and Beaudiene Beaufighter and trebles at Stratford with Quick As Fire, Itsokbeingbetter and Count Landeck all winning and at Melton where Beltane, Delightful Jazz and Rishi all greeted the judge.

American Ideal continued to produce winners on both sides of the ditch this week. Runrunjimmydunn made it three in a row at Gloucester Park, Ideal Bliss won at Hobart, Don Domingo took out the Cheviot Cup and Nearis Green headed home a trifecta for the stallion at Addington with Son Of A Tiger and Buck Eye rounding out the placings.

Trotting Sire Pegasus Spur’s progeny remained strong once again this week. Pegasus Elegance won at Menangle, Blood And Whiskey trotted to victory at Stratford and Sarah Palin greeted the judge for the tenth time at Waikouaiti.

MAORI TIME SMASHES THE CLOCK TO CLAIM AUSTRALASIAN RECORD

Top flight trotting mare Maori Time wrote her way into the Australasian square-gaiting history annuls when she stopped the clock in a staggering 1.51.5-mile performance at Menangle. In a stunning display of sheer speed and power the daughter of Pegasus Spur took 1.7 seconds off the previous record held by Pegasus Spur’s son Flying Isa! This was the star mare’s 24th career win, she now has close to $420,000 in stakes. Congratulations to her owner/breeder Fred Crews.

Pegasus Spur added to a stellar weekend with a siring double at Auckland when Amanda’s Spur and CK Spur both greeted the judge.

American Ideal’s son Soho Tribeca became harness racing’s latest millionaire when he ran 3rd in the 2018 Miracle Mile, he was shut out late in the race after sitting in the chair, he now easily sits among our best pacers.

American Ideal had good winners in Triple Eight at Auckland, Son Of A Tiger at Addington and he sired a double at Ashburton when Patanjili and Prada’s Ideal Dahling got the chocolates.

Bettor’s Delight continues to dominate the yearling sales ring, he produced the top colt and top filly at the Australian Pacing Gold sale in Sydney. On the race track his early juveniles won the Group 3 Sapling stakes at Ashburton where War Dan Delight was successful and Kayla Marie won the sires stake at Addington on debut.

BETTOR’S GALS SHINE ON PREMIER NIGHT AT ADDINGTON

Bettor’s Delight’s daughters had a night to remember when they claimed both key features at Addington race way this past week.

Utmost Delight added a Group 1 to her CV when she claimed the PGG Wrightson NZ Standardbred Breeders Stakes. Utmost Delight was handled with aplomb by Ricky May for trainer Steve Reid, she was bred by Woodlands own Charles Roberts.

In the $165,000 PGG Wrightson 3yo fillies final Bettor Joy defeated a very brave Elle Mac, with Feel The Money claiming 3rd place, which resulted in a Bettor’s Delight trifecta on the race. Congratulations to all those involved in the winner Bettor Joy.

At Menangle Tiger Tara roared into miracle mile contention when he won the Group 1 Canadian Cup sprint, out west Chicago Bull won the $50,000 feature at Gloucester Park and Mucho Macho Man was a Redcliffe winner.

American Ideal sired a double out west at Gloucester Park when Tas Man Bromac and Runrunjimmydunn greeted the judge, Dom Domingo won the 2018 Oamaru Cup, Illegal Immigrant returned to winning ways at Hobart and Gooddealehemily scooted home in 27.2 to win at Auckland, with American Ideal providing the first three past the post on this race! WOODLANDS STUD TOPS AUSTRALASIAN CLASSIC YEARLING SALE

Woodlands Stud was proud to prepare and sell the ‘top lot’ at the 2018 Australasian Classic Yearling Sale at Karaka. Lot 157 was a son of champion stallion Bettor’s Delight out of Linda Grace. Prominent Australian owner Jean Feiss went to $230,000 for this stunning colt, he will join ‘The All Stars’ team.

Bettor’s Delight enjoyed a top day at the sales with three of his colts all bringing in over $100,000 + for their vendors.

New season sire Sweet Lou was the only other stallion on the day to produce a six figure sum colt, which was a great story for him moving forward as a stallion.

Thank you to all buyers who purchased a yearling from our draft and a big shout out to all our staff who worked tirelessly towards this day, knowing it is our ‘Grand Final’!

On the race track American Ideal sired a treble at Cambridge when Ideal Holiday, Ivana Flybye and Real Eagle all greeted the judge, Kardeslar won the Hororata Cup and his freshman son Eye See Double remains unbeaten following his Kindergarten Stakes victory at Globe Derby.

Bettor’s Delights daughter Delishka was driven a treat to win the Group 3 ‘Sibellia Stakes at Menangle in 1.51.1, Tiger Tara won on the same card and Bettors Fire was a Gloucester Park winner.

Pegasus Spur had good winners in CK Spur at Auckland, Amanda’s Spur at Cambridge and Pegasus Elegance at Menangle.

LAZARUS JOINS HARNESS RACINGS IMMORTALS

Champion pacer Lazarus now sits among Australasia’s harness greats following his emphatic Hunter Cup victory at Melton. Taking no prisoners in the 2760 metre feature the son of Bettor’s Delight gave his rivals a pacing lesson in toughness, high speed and stamina! Lazarus smashed the track record by over a second, returning a mile rate of 1.54.1 for the trip. He has now earned over $3.5 million and became the richest pacer bred in New Zealand history.

Woodlands Stud Stallions provided the quinella on the A$500,000 feature with gun sire American Ideal’s son Soho Tribeca running a courageous second!

Big week in New Zealand for American Ideal with his son Classie American winning the Otaki Cup, he sired a treble at Wyndham when Duke Of Wellington, Ideal Breeze and The Big Boss all greeted the judge at the southern race way!
