DUKE OF WELLINGTON CRUSHES RIVALS IN METON PLATE  

Duke Of Wellington is a pacer with an exciting future. The son of American Ideal displayed speed and toughness to win the Group 2 Melton Plate this Saturday past. Duke of Wellington sat in the chair to win the feature race and paced 1.54.6 and now has over $100,000 in stake earnings. The Melton Plate saw the Woodlands stallion’s son’s fill the placing’s in the Group 2 feature.

American Ideal sired other good winners, among them were Dazzle Me who made it three on the bounce with victory at Bathurst, Ideal Bliss won at Devonport, Our Front Page scored on Port Pirie Cup night and Patanjali won at Cambridge.

Bettor’s Delight’s juvenile’s in New Zealand, won both sires stakes heats with One Change taking the colts and geldings heat at Addington and Little Miss Perfect won the fillies heat at Auckland. Jesse Duke proved manners are everything when he won the Group 2 Flying Stakes at Addington. The top flight 3yo has now close to $350,000 in earnings and was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud. At Bathurst, Jilliby Nitro was an impressive winner of his Gold Crown heat, recording a 1.54.5-mile rate and looks a key player ahead of this week final.

Out west Sweet Lou’s daughter Double Expresso remains undefeated following an effortless victory at Gloucester Park, that was her fourth victory in her debut season. At Bunbury, Sweet Lou debutante My Sweet Deal, carried her great trial form to race day when she was an easy debut winner. My Sweet Deal gave Sweet Lou his fifth ‘down under’ winner in his first crop.
