LAZARUS HAS A SEASON FOR THE AGES
/Bettor’s Delights champion son Lazarus has had a 2016/17 season that clearly sees him as one of the very best. As a 4yo he has raised the bar very high. Transitioning as a 3yo to open class is harness racing’s biggest career changer and unlike many others he stamped himself as a 4yo in devastating fashion in the best company.
At Auckland last Friday, his stunning season finished when he was a winner of the Group 1 Messenger stakes. Among his victories this season where a New Zealand Cup, Victoria Cup, Chariots of Fire and Taylor Mile. He remains the fastest pacer ‘down under’ this season so far and has over $2.1 million in the bank. Congratulations to all involved with Lazarus.
Bettor’s Delight’s daughter Elle Mac was a winner of the NZ 2yo fillies’ sire’s stakes at Auckland. In the $150,000 feature, she paced a national record of 1.54.8 for the 1700 metre journey.
American Ideal’s quality 2yo son Maximus Red was a winner of the APG consolation at Menangle. In the Group 2 $50,000 race he showed a clean pair of heels.
Other winners for American Ideal included the undefeated Jamieson Shard at Cambridge and Moon Over Manhattan at Bathurst. Pegasus Spur’s had good winners in Scorched at Albion Park, who made it five wins on the bounce, Brynmor was a Maryborough winner and Our Dainty Lady made it another victory in Queensland, following her arrival from NSW.
