Downbytheseaside sires the fastest 2-year-old in history

Downbytheseaside is a sire that continues to make a splash on the harness racing industry worldwide and his progeny continue to rise to the top echelons of our sport. This week has been no exception, his unbeaten 2-year-old son Sippinonsearoc paced a mile in a blistering 1:48.2 at the Red Mile to become the fastest 2-year-old pacer in history.

The race he won was the $80,000 second leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes Championship Series for freshman male pacers. He is trained by Ron Burke and had Yannick Gingras in the sulky.

Not only did the colt create history, but it was also history repeating itself in a way as Downbytheseaside himself broke this World Record back in his own freshman year when he paced 1:49.

Closer to home, Downbytheseaside had a terrific week in Australia with a handful of good winners. Included in these winners was a double at Pinjarra when both Seaside Magic and Atlantic Gem saluted the judge for connections. Seaside Magic was the sire’s 14th 2-year-old winner in Australasia for 2024.

Downbytheseaside also sired the first foal to be born at Woodlands Stud for 2024 this week. An athletic colt out of a well-related Bettor’s Delight mare who was born on Wednesday morning.
