WORLD CLASS SIRES PRODUCING CLASSY FILLIES AND MARES

Our sires are having a great run with their progeny on the track, and not just with their male offspring. They all continue to leave talented fillies and mares across Australasia and the last seven days has been no exception. See a highlight performer for the sires below:

DOWNBYTHESEASIDE
The progeny of DOWNBYTHESEASIDE continue to step up and demand attention, none more so than his 2-year-old daughter Forever Dream (Bettor’s Delight dam) who was an impressive winner of the Group 3 Leonard Memorial at the Cheviot meeting on Sunday. The filly was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud by the Estate of Charles Roberts before being sold as a weanling through NZB Standardbred in 2022 for $22,000. It was just her second race start after being narrowly beaten when flying home for second in her first race start. She is trained by Cran and Chrissie Dalgety and was driven by their son Carter for her large group of excited owners.

FOREVER DREAM - Group 3 Win for the daughter of Downbytheseaside

AMERICAN IDEAL
The late AMERICAN IDEAL looks to have left another talented filly in Very Pretty (Live Or Die dam). The 3-year-old smashed her rivals when winning by over 53 metres at Melton last week. She won easily in a 1:54 mile rate to bring up her sixth win from six starts. She was bred and is raced by Peter Gleeson, is trained by Emma Stewart and was driven by Mark Pitt.

LATHER UP
The debut crop of our exciting young sire LATHER UP are impressing trainers across Australasia and his trial winners are coming thick and fast. One recent eye-catching performer is a 2-year-old filly called Debbie Lincoln (Sir Lincoln dam), who has won her last two trials in Auckland. She still has a bit to learn but looks to have inherited much of her father’s speed. She was bred and raised at Woodlands Stud before being purchased by Debbie Green at the 2022 NZB Weanling Sales for $3,500. She is trained by Ray Green and was driven my Andre Poutama.

SWEET LOU
SWEET LOU is continuing his fantastic run with progeny winning races left, right and centre. He is currently the leading sire of both 2 and 3-year-olds in Australia for 2024. Of his many recent impressive performers, one that stands out is Millwood Bliss (Bettor’s Delight dam), a 3-year-old filly who won by five and a half lengths at Menangle on Saturday. She has now had nine starts for six wins and three placings. This win was her career best mile rate of 1:53.2. She was bred by Katie Carville and is trained by Brad Hewitt who also drives the talented filly for owner Michael Boots.

WHAT THE HILL
Krackaling (Bettor’s Delight dam) brought up her fourth career win at Invercargill last week. The daughter of WHAT THE HILL helped extend the sire's lead as the Leading Sire of 4-year-old trotters in New Zealand. This mare is out of the Group 1 winning mare Donegal Bettorgretch, is trained by Brad Williamson and was driven by Kerryn Tomlinson.

BETTOR'S DELIGHT
Manhattan (Mach Three dam) made it two from two on Australian soil when winning at Menangle on Saturday night. It was the 12th win for the daughter of BETTOR’S DELIGHT and took her career earners to over $282k. She paced the mile in 1:51.2 which was a fraction slower than her last start when she broke 1:50, zooming around in 1:49.6. She was bred by Studholme Bloodstock and Vicki Purdon and is still owned by her loyal band of owners who have sent her to be trained by Jack Trainor in NSW and she was driven on this occasion by Jack Callaghan.
