Woodlands Sires exceed $32 Million in Progeny Stakes

On Tuesday morning Woodlands Stud’s stallions exceeded seasonal earnings of $32 million across Australasia. This is made up of just five current and one retired stallion - American Ideal, Bettor’s Delight, Downbytheseaside, Sweet Lou, What The Hill and Pegasus Spur.

As a stud Woodlands Stud are delighted in these results and that fact that $32 million has gone back into the pockets of breeders, owners, trainers and drivers who support Woodlands Stud and their stallions.

Champion sire Bettor’s Delight leads the way in both countries and is quickly approaching another round of accolades, but American Ideal continues his stellar record with another great season of progeny earnings, included in this is of course the stakes from his 2022 New Zealand Trotting Cup winning son Copy That.

Pegasus Spur was retired two seasons ago by his progeny continue to feature in both countries, thankfully his millionaire son Speeding Spur is set to take over his legacy.

Sweet Lou continues his rise as one of the up-and-coming sires of harness racing. He is the current leading sire of 2-year-olds on individual winners, siring his 50th winner for the season last week. He also has some tremendous foals to winners statistics in both countries and his progeny are performing at the top level.

Our younger sires Downbytheseaside and What The Hill are also having great debut seasons in Australasia. What The Hill has already sired a Group 1 winner in Australia with Dreambigaimhigh picking up a feature trot at Menangle. He is the leading first season trotting sire in New Zealand and is third on the overall leaderboard for 2-year-olds. In Australia from a small first crop he has already sired the winners of seven races.

Downbytheseaside is making his own splash with several eye-catching juveniles in the ranks already including Group 1 placed and three-time winner Aardiebytheseaside in New Zealand and the four-time Australian winner Firefly.

With six weeks left in the breeding season it is not too late too bred your mares to the Woodlands Stud stallions, in addition to the above-mentioned stallions we also have the very exciting stallion Lather Up on the roster, his oldest crop are yearlings. He has all the makings of a top stallion and represents tremendous value for breeders this season.

All of the stallions are available via fresh, chilled semen across Australasia, so if it also time to look at switching from frozen semen then the Woodlands roster is the place to go. Your success is our success so make sure you breed your mare(s) and share the dream with Woodlands Stud.
