TALL DARK STRANGER TAKES $750,000 METRO PACE
/The Bettor’s Delight siring juggernaut continues relentlessly as each season comes and goes and his greatness was on display at Woodbine in Ontario, Canada, when his undefeated son Tall Dark Stranger won the time-honoured Metro Pace for juveniles.
In the CA $750,000 classic, he paced a 1.49.1 stakes record with his victory. The son of Bettor’s Delight is now unbeaten in six career starts and has banked close to $500,000 in earnings. On the same card, top flight mare Caviart Ally won the CA $250,000 Milton Stakes for the mares in 1.48.3. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight paced home in 53.3 and this was career win number 22, she now has career earnings of over $1.5 million.
Closer to home Bettor’s Delight’s son Spankem was the winner of the Hannon Memorial at Oamaru, he rushed home in 53 and change and is the nominal favourite for the New Zealand Cup.
American Ideal has a serious 3yo son in Copy That, he was a sensational winner at Auckland, coming from the rear in 55.4 and on the same card Ivana Flybye was a crushing five length winner. At Gloucester Park, American Ideal sired a double when Bletchley Park and Ideal One greeted the judge, at Penrith, Speedy Dominic and Madre Supremo got the chocolates and at Albion Park, Classie American was a 1.53.8 victor.
Resident trotting stallion Pegasus Spur had good winners on both sides of the ditch, with CK Spur winning at Auckland, Miss Blissful was an impressive Melton winner and Amanda’s Spur won at Menangle.
