GREAT DAY OUT FOR WOODLANDS AT AUCKLAND YEARLING SALES

Woodlands Stud continued its great tradition of selling top quality yearlings at this year’s New Zealand bloodstock standardbred sale held at Karaka. The ‘vibe’ regarding the sale was great and new auction house New Zealand bloodstock delivered.

Woodlands Stud consignment reached well past a seven-figure gross! Our sale highlights included two lots by Sweet Lou bringing over $100,000, Bettor’s Delight’s as always were well sought, with a son generating a $140,000 result and we consigned a stunning Muscle Hill filly who made $90,000.

A big shout out to stud master Tony Grayling and yearling manager Kelly Blakemore who raise the bar each breeding season, also to our staff who worked tirelessly from the time the yearlings arrived to the time they found a new destination!

A big thank you also to all purchasers of our draft, we will follow their careers with great interest.

Sweet Lou is well and truly underway ‘down under’! He sired a treble this Friday past. At Auckland he landed a double when Virgil and Sweet On Me both scored impressive victories. Virgil raced and defeated the older horses in fine fashion and Sweet On Me was a comfortable debut winner against the fillies. A daughter of the great Adore Me, she has the world at her feet. Long time Woodlands supporter Barrie Rattray bred and raced debut Hobart winner Kohanah. The son of Sweet Lou became his fourth winner in a week!
