WHAT THE HILL LEADING THE WAY IN NEW ZEALAND
/What The Hill was New Zealand's Leading Sire of 3-year-old Trotters in 2023 and he has made another great start for 2024. He is currently the leading sire of both three and four-year-old trotters in New Zealand. He also sits second on the All Age leaderboard for trotters, with only his first two foal crops currently racing.
He has made a real impact on the industry in his short siring career to date, he has already sired a sales trotting topper, sired Group 1 winners on both sides of the Tasman and has a huge number of his progeny already winning races.
Some of his top progeny so far include his Group 1 winners Lovemeto (Love You dam) and Dreambigaimhigh (Love You dam) as well as other strong performers like eye-catching 3-year-old filly Inasinglemoment (Monarchy dam), impressive last start winner Bet N Win (Pegasus Spur dam), 5-win mare Monarch Hill (Monarchy dam) and yesterday's Addington winner Judy J (Grant Our Wishes dam).
What The Hill will be returning this August to stand at Woodlands Stud in Auckland for the 2024-25 breeding season. He has already been very popular with breeders and bred to many of Australasia's best square-gaiting mares. CROSSES OF GOLD
There are only a couple of lines that can’t be crossed with What The Hill, and already we are seeing a few patterns in crosses that are becoming proven in the early stages of his siring career.
LOVE YOU – Two of his Australaisian Group 1 winners have been bred on this cross and there looks to be some other nice horses emerging from this cross in Australasia. He is a great option for not only Love You mares but any European line mares.
PEGASUS SPUR - A cross that is already proving very successful for What The Hill and his father Muscle Hill is the Pegasus Spur line. In America mares from the SJ’S PHOTO line have also been popular with both sires.
MONARCHY - Two of What The Hill's eye-catching daughters stem from a Monarchy mare and there look to be other promising progeny bred on this cross.
ARNDON - Already we have seen many mares by SUNDON being crossed with What The Hill and they have been having success on the track. Mares by DREAM VACATION are also from this line and can cross well with What The Hill.
ANDOVER HALL – This cross is already a success in New Zealand. There are some nice duplications in this cross with Andover Hall and ANGUS HALL, who are full brothers, both featuring close up on this cross. What The Hill also looks to have some exciting young progeny out of MONKEY BONES mares.
OTHERS - It is still early days but we are starting to see some trends develop with ARMBRO INVASION mares and while it is a close cross, some MAJESTIC SON mares have also been crossed with him with success.
