AMERICAN IDEAL’S BABY GAL PACES WORLD RECORD

American Ideal’s star 2YO daughter Youaremycandygirl continued her freshman season in devastating style when she paced a World Record mile in 1.50.0. She claimed the record at The Red Mile in Kentucky in a heat of the International Stallion Stakes. In her debut 2YO season, Youaremycandygirl has banked over $316,000. Her dam, Sweet Lady Jane is Sweet Lou’s half-sister, making it a great day for the Woodlands Stallions.

Sweet Lou debut crop at the Lexington sales in Kentucky were exceptionally well received. His debut crop average $76,778 and included a number of sales including in excess of over $100,000!

On the race track Bettor’s Delight champion daughter Dream About Me became ‘The Kings’ 31st Millionaire when she returned to racing at Addington, she looks well and truly on target for the New Zealand Cup.

Two million dollar star Lazarus returned in style to win the Group 2 Canterbury Classic at Addington, fresh up he was too good for New Zealand’s best.  Other good winners for Bettor’s Delight included Rave Moonraker at Albion Park in 1.52.6, Doitson won at Invercargill and the Woodlands Stud bred The Faithful was a Menangle winner in 1.52.9

SOHO TRIBECA HAS INTERS IN HIS SIGHTS

Stand out Western Australian pacer Soho Tribeca resumed from a spell with a clear message about his prospects come Interdominion time. The son of American Ideal sat in the chair to win at Gloucester Park in 1.55.3, crushing his rivals! A winner of close to $450,000, Soho Tribeca recorded career win number sixteen. There is little doubt he will be a key player when harness racing’s iconic series kicks off in November.

Other winners for American Ideal included debut winner Kilowatt Kid at Winton, Alta Shangri La was an Auckland winner and at Banks Peninsula he sired a double when Dundee Lady and Run Boy Run greeted the judge.

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight sired a treble at Addington when Bettor Trix, Pat’s Delight and Spondulicks got the chocolates, at Charlton G I Joe made an impressive Australian debut with victory and King Solomon made it back to back victories at Mildura.

Australia’s best trotter Maori Time continues to cut a swath through Victoria’s best, she added another Group 3 to her impressive CV when she won at Melton. The daughter of Pegasus Spur now has over $360,000 in the locker and this was lifetime win number eighteen.

 

SWEET AS CANDY IS AMERICAN IDEAL’S GAL

Top flight sire American Ideal continued a big season in the northern hemisphere when his daughter Youaremycandygirl blasted off the gate to win the $500,000 Shes A Great Lady stakes at Mohawk. Overcoming barrier eight she gave her rivals a pacing lesson in 1.50.4! This was career win number four in her debut season. Youaremycandygirl is from a half sister to our three-million-dollar earner Sweet Lou.

This family is currently one of the hottest and most relevant families in the stud book! Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight’s had a night out at Gloucester Park when he sired a quartet of winners. Among those where $960,000 earner Chicago Bull, $475,000 winner Let’s Chase The Dream and ace mare Dodolicious and at the Auckland and Menangle meetings he sired a four winners as well.

The King continues to show why he has no peer as a sire. Pegasus Spur sired a double at Auckland when Our Petite Lady and Forfeathers greeted the judge, at Ballarat Pretty Little Lucy got the chocolates and Unico Pegasus trotted 1.57.6 to get a richly deserved win at Menangle.

 

HAVE FAITH IN ME RETURNS TO HIS BEST

Australasia’s fastest pacer Have Faith Me started the road to the New Zealand Cup with a fresh up victory in the Group 3 New Brighton cup at Addington. Given a beautiful trip in transit, the million-dollar son of Bettor’s Delight was too good for his rivals, scooting home in 55 and change.

Classy mare Bettor Be Amazed continued her stunning start to the new season when she sat in the chair at Auckland in a blistering 1.53.9! In recent weeks, she has made a mess of some New Zealand Cup contenders.

Gun Tasmanian pacer Devendra took his career earnings past $400,000 with victory at Hobart, the son of Bettor’s Delight looks on target for the WA Interdominion. No shortage of winners for American Ideal, including Covered N Diamonds at Pinjarra, Ideal Diamante at Gloucester Park, At West Point cruised to victory at Penrith, Lynbar Rose cleared maiden ranks at Auckland and Ideal Suspect shared the spoils at Swan Hill.

Pegasus Spur looks to have another classy performer in Puma Road, he got the chocolates impressively at Auckland and Endsin A Party was a Bendigo winner for the top trotting sire.

WOODLANDS BOY’S BIG NIGHT OUT AT MOHAWK

American Ideal and Bettor’s Delight’s 3YO’s were at the top of their game in key stakes races at Mohawk in Canada this Saturday past.

Bettor’s Delight’s star filly Bettor’s Up took her career earnings to over $630,000 with a powerful display in her Simcoe Stakes division for fillies. She dealt to her rivals off cover in 1.50.0 flat and was an emphatic 6 ½ length winner.

American Ideal’s son Art Scene took a career best 1.49.4 when he annexed his Simcoe Stakes division for colts and geldings. In a one act affair, he was eased down to defeat his rivals by 5 lengths, cruising home in 27.3! American Ideal is having a big season in North America, he is now 3rd on the ‘All Aged’ sires lists and his youngsters are very dominant again in the New York Sires Stakes series.

Closer to home Pegasus’s Spur’s star daughter Maori Time continues to race at the top of her game. She recorded career win number 21 and took her earnings to over $350,000 when she led all the way to win the Group 3 Aldebaran Park Maori’s Idol Free For All.

DOWN UNDER FLAVOUR TO PENNYSLVANIAN SIRES STAKES WIN  

Ace reinsman Andrew McCarthy added to his impressive USA CV with a great front running drive on 3yo filly Caviart Alley in the Pennsylvanian Sires Stakes Final pace at Harrah’s Philadelphia. The daughter of Bettor’s Delight won the $252,000 final in impressive fashion by three lengths, posting a 1.50.2 mile. Former ex pat Australian trainer Noel Daley prepares the top filly.

Closer to home Bettor’s Delight sired a treble at Gloucester Park with Dodolicious, Maia Maguire and McClinche all greeting the judge, at Melton Flaming Flutter won the ‘Free For All’ in 1.53 and Last Party was a Dubbo winner.

American Ideal kick-started September in style with American Brave winning at Auckland, Resurgent Dream was a Hobart winner and Twoforsixty got the chocolates at Geelong.

Pegasus Spur sired a double at Auckland when Forfeathers and Grenado trotted stoutly to victory and at Addington, Alderbeck was an impressive winner.

Great to see Crazed get his first Australian winner when Crazy Ideas cleared maiden ranks at Maryborough. Congratulations to Paul and Kari Males who bred and trained this son of Crazed.

 

BETTOR’S DELIGHT ANNEXES SIXTH CONSECTUTIVE AUSTRALIAN STALLION TITLE

Champion stallion Bettor’s Delight continues to re write Australian siring history and with the 2016/17 season concluding, ‘The King’ claims his sixth consecutive Australian sires title. Bettor’s Delight and his side kick top sire American Ideal will finish the season in Australia as the top two stallions on dollar average earnings. The same one – two punch have repeated their 2015/16 results! Congratulations to our boys, who just keep getting the job done at the highest level.

On the race track, Bettor’s Delights winners included Bettor Bet Black at Menangle in 1.52.7, Itz Gemma’s Delight at Launceston, he sired a double at Auckland when Recco Lover and Bettor B Amazed greeted the judge and Last Party was an easy Newcastle winner.

For American Ideal, he tasted success on both sides of the ditch, with Miss Patriot winning at Addington, Carlew Park sat in the chair to win at Auckland, Cold Ideal won at Albion Park, Fon Ideal keeps winning with another victory at Redcliffe and Tisu Spirit finished his freshman year with victory at Launceston.

Pegasus Spur’s son The Crown Jewels led in a ‘Peggy’ trifecta at Auckland, Medusa was an Addington winner and It’s Not Dark Yet won at Geelong, giving the Woodlands stallions another big week!

NZ Sales & Marketing Manager

Woodlands Stud is looking for a dynamic person to become our Sales and Marketing Manager to promote our Standardbred Stud within New Zealand.  Ideally they should have an extensive knowledge of the Harness Racing Industry with good communication and organising skills. The right person will be part of a sales team liaising with the NZ based Studmaster, office staff and our Australia based Sales & Marketing Manager.

The role includes

  • Managing our racing syndicates
  • Adding value to existing client relationships through effective marketing and selling service fees to our stallion
  • Using all forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter and our website
  • Attending race meetings and promotional events
  • Marketing our horses at both weanling and yearling sales.

The stud is based in Auckland however the right person can be based anywhere nationwide.

An attractive remuneration package includes a late model car.
