Pedigree

American Ideal possesses a sire’s pedigree, as he is one of four first-crop World Champions by the brilliant Western Ideal. His sire Western Ideal is the fastest performer by his sire Western Hanover with a race record of 1:48. He won a record 10 occasions in sub 1:50 times in 2000, including all-age track records at both the Meadowlands and Mohawk. He established record single-season earnings for an older pacer, with $1,220,000 in 2000 when he was voted Older Pacer of the Year. His Dam American Ideal's dam Lifetime Success’s (Matt's Scooter) first four foals have all taken marks of 1:55 or faster. His Granddam His grand dam is Three Diamonds an Albatross mare who was 2YO Pacing Filly of the Year and 3YO Pacing Filly of the Year. She set a world record for 2YO fillies and at three set the world record on all size tracks. She is the dam of 9 foals four of which have gone 1:55.

Race Record

World Champion 3YO - 1.47.8. As a three year old American Ideal took his 1:47.8 world record mark at The Red Mile where he won the prestigious Tattersalls Pace and Bluegrass Stakes in back-to-back weeks. He took his 1:50.3h all-age Canadian record and North American Season’s Record winning the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs, where he eclipsed Art Major’s track record. American Ideal also broke the track record at the Meadowlands and set a season’s record when he defeated Rocknroll Hanover in the Oliver Wendell Holmes. During his career wins included the 2YO Premier’s Colts Futurity and an elimination of the Primary Stakes at Stampede Park. As a 3YO in one day he won the elimination and final of the Confederation Cup in a Canadian all ages 1/2 mile track record 1:50.3 before he went on six days later to win the Bluegrass Stakes in a World Record 3YO mile time of 1:47.8. He also won the Oliver Wendell Holmes, the Tattersalls Pace, and an elimination of the Cane Pace where he came second in final. He also came second in eliminations of the Provincial Cup and the Breeder’s Crown. This talented son of Western Ideal established seven new track or season’s marks during his career including track records at the Meadowlands, Flamboro Downs and The Red Mile. He earned $740,000 in 2005 alone making him the second richest 3YO that year.

World Record 3YO Pacer 1:47.8

A 3YO World Record on a mile track 2005 Fastest pacing mile recorded in North America 2005 Set 3YO World Record on a half-mile track set seven track or season records. After his second season at stud in the US, World Campion American Ideal is shuttling to again to Woodlands Stud for his southern hemisphere breeding career. American Ideal gained worldwide fame with his breathtaking performance in 2005 at Lexington’s Red Mile. He won the Bluegrass Stakes sensationally in 1:47.8 being the fastest pacing mile recorded in 2005, and the fastest ever for a three year old. He achieved this on the back of winning the prestigious Tattersalls Pace a week earlier. Another record fell after winning the Confederation cup lowering the half mile track and stakes record to 1:50.3. At the Meadowlands he set yet another track record in his five length win over Rocknroll Hanover in the Oliver Wendell Holmes. In total American Ideal set seven track or season records. Tragically his race career was cut short after injury and he retired to stud as the fastest 3yo pacer of all time. Within a couple of weeks of announcing his retirement, American Ideal’s book was full and closed at a fee of US$6,000.
